Transforming the former administration building into a modern residential building also means ensuring that the energy supply fulfils modern requirements in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. In addition to high-quality insulation in the building shell, the use of modern and efficient domestic technology ensures that the building meets the requirements of the Energy Conservation Regulations (EnEV) 2009 for existing buildings. An energy-efficient heat pump will be installed to serve the basic requirements for the underfloor heating. This will be combined with a modern gas burner unit as an additional energy source for heating and hot water.

A blower-door test will assess how airtight the building shell is and provide controlled home ventilation that ensures a healthy room environment.
